Performance Auto Group Highlights Spirit of Giving at Christmas Parades with New Holiday Jingle


Performance Auto Group has spread holiday joy and highlighted the spirit of giving at multiple Christmas parades across Southern Ontario with a specially-produced animated jingle.


The tune is an all-original composition, and features friendly penguins driving a car full of clothing, toys and food to local charities and donation centres. The animation drives home a message of love and care for everyone in need, and also highlights Performance Auto Group's focus on giving back to the community.


The jingle was broadcast on brand new trucks equipped with high-definition LED screens all around, which featured the latest in surround sound technology to deliver an immersive audio-visual experience. The trucks also featured multi-coloured LED lighting, holiday-themed external decorations, and even a toy penguin on the front to help spread holiday cheer in communities. The truck and the group's new jingle proved very popular with both adults and children at every event.

Performance Auto Group Presents 24th Annual United Way Golf Tournament, Raises Over $55,000

Performance Auto Group has presented its 24th Annual United Way of St. Catharines and District Golf Tournament in support of United Way of Niagara, and has helped raise over $55,000 for the charity's support programs.

The event was held on August 14, 2017 at the prestigious Peninsula Lakes Golf Club in Fenwick, Ontario. Over 180 golfers attended the tournament and played on the 27-hole course, and over 220 people enjoyed a first-class dinner hosted at the club by Performance Auto Group CEO Steve Alizadeh.

The popular event was organised and managed in its entirety by Performance Auto Group as presenting sponsor. All Niagara-based dealerships participated in the tournament, and set up highly-visible vehicle placements throughout the golf course. Every hole had different vehicles on display, with sales consultants on hand to engage people with product presentations.

Bill Anderson, Performance Auto Group Community Ambassador and Chairperson of the event, said the tournament is one of the biggest fundraising events in the Niagara region and helps generate much-needed finances for one of the region's top charities. "The United Way Golf Tournament is considered one of the top fundraising events in the entire region. It raises funds for over 74 essential United Way of St. Catharines and District programs, and helps the organization run critical projects for communities-in-need. The event also helps finance nearly every medical research organization in Niagara, including those for cancer and heart disease," he said.

Bill said the tournament has been managed and presented by Performance Auto Group for the last 24 years, and is a vital part of the group's Drive Change initiative. "This event exemplifies our company's long-standing commitment to support community initiatives. For over three decades, we have single-handedly managed, organized and promoted The United Way of St. Catharines and District Golf Tournament, and have helped raised around $865,000 to-date from this one event. We are all very proud of this, and hope to continue organizing this event in future," he said.

Brampton Auto Mall Takes Centre Stage at Canada 150 Celebrations, Donates New Vehicle to BMOW

Brampton Auto Mall has celebrated Canada's 150th birthday in style with a day-long celebration in Brampton's Chinguacousy Park, and has donated the use of a brand new vehicle to Brampton Meals on Wheels (BMOW).

The celebration saw Performance Auto Group employees from the Auto Mall set up a highly visible presence in the park and entertain over 100,000 people. They sponsored the main Community Stage and the Community Zone at the event, and organized numerous fun activities inside their bright red tent to commemorate Canada Day.

The team arranged a special appearance by Canadian comic book superhero Captain Canuck, who proved very popular with all attendees.

The tent also featured the well-known Plinko game, made popular by The Price is Right television show. The game proved extremely popular with attendees of all ages and was played by thousands, with 40 to 50 people waiting in line to play throughout the day.

Another highlight of the event was the donation of a brand new vehicle to BMOW. The vehicle was presented to BMOW President Amanda Blaber on the main event stage after an introduction by Mayor of Brampton Linda Jeffrey, and was met with immense appreciation by everyone present. Performance Auto Group Director of Marketing Drew Delaware represented the Group and presented the keys.

The Community Stage sponsored by the Brampton Auto Mall showcased numerous impressive acts throughout the day, including multiple dance and musical performances and the official unveiling of the Muskoka Chair Project. The Community Zone also featured fun family activities like arts and crafts, a meet and greet with a Disney princess, a show by LED Wand Performers, and free cupcake and water stations.

Performance Auto Group has sponsored and participated in the 2017 Niagara Business Achievement Awards, and has helped honour and recognize businesses that have positively impacted Niagara's communities.

The awards were presented during a prestigious Gala Awards Dinner at the Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites in St. Catharines on June 22. The event was attended by over 100 people representing 34 different businesses from across the Niagara region.

Performance Auto Group Director of Marketing Drew Delaware handed out the Excellence in Business - 51+ Employees award at the event, and spoke about the inspiration that comes from our community's business leaders, and expressed gratitude for the enthusiastic commitment to a prosperous Niagara. The award went to Convergys CMG Canada Ltd., a leading customer management firm, and was accepted on the company's behalf by Convergys Site Leader Lisa Serba.

Performance Partakes in Plaid for Dad, Raises Over $4,500 for Prostate Cancer Canada

Performance Auto Group has marked the 2017 Plaid for Dad day by dressing up in plaid, and has raised much-needed awareness and over $4,500 in donations for Prostate Cancer Canada.

The group has been officially recognized as the top automotive fundraiser in all of Canada, and has received special thanks from Prostate Cancer Canada President and CEO Rocco Rossi for its efforts.

The day was marked on Friday, June 16, and saw senior management and employees from all of the group's 31 locations dress up in plaid to symbolize their support for prostate cancer research. Employees wore everything from plaid shirts, pants, ties, hats, shawls, and even suits, and donated generously to help the company far exceed its original goal of $1,500.

Performance Auto Group Employee Services Manager Edith Pencil said she was very proud of everyone's efforts, and happy to have exceeded the fundraising goal. "This is the first time that the entire company has participated in Plaid for Dad, and I am very pleased that we all came together and raised over $4,500 for this important cause. This speaks volumes about our company-wide commitment to the community," she said.

All of the funds raised at this year's Plaid for Dad go directly to Prostate Cancer Canada, and will help the foundation work towards eliminating the most common cancer in men through research, advocacy, education, support and awareness.

Performance Auto Group Sponsors Big Bike Ride Niagara, Raises Over $2,100

Performance Auto Group has participated in the 2017 Big Bike Ride Niagara, and has raised over $2,100 for the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

The ride was held on Monday, June 12 at the parking lot of Kelseys Original Roadhouse in St. Catharines. A total of 21 employees from various Performance dealerships helped cycle the thirty-seat, 2,000 lbs bike through two kilometres of city streets.

The bike helped draw much-needed public attention towards the need to support research into heart disease and stroke. It received a great response from everyone on the road, with people honking car horns and cheering the team throughout the route.

The team had plenty of fun as well, and was proud to have participated in the fundraising effort. "We all had a great time riding the big bike, and created much-needed public awareness about heart disease and stroke. The conditions sadly prove fatal for over 70,000 Canadians annually, so it is crucial to help raise funds for research," said Lindsay Slessor, Senior Graphic Artist at Performance Auto Group.

This is the sixth time that Performance Auto Group has participated in Big Bike Ride St. Catharines. "Our participation in this event shows people that we care about the same things that they do. Performance is committed to making a positive difference in the community, and hopes to inspire others to do the same," said Lindsay.

Performance Sponsors 23rd Annual Niagara Entrepreneur of the Year Awards

Performance Auto Group has participated in the 23rd Annual Niagara Entrepreneur of the Year Awards (NEYA) as an Awards Sponsor, and has helped honour and recognize innovators whose businesses have positively impacted Niagara's communities.

The awards were presented during a prestigious Gala Awards Dinner at the White Oaks Resort and Spa in Niagara-on-the-Lake on February 24, 2017. The event was attended by over 100 people, of which 54 were entrepreneurs representing 41 businesses from across the Niagara region.

Performance Auto Group Director of Marketing Drew Delaware handed out the Established Entrepreneur Award at the event, and spoke towards Performance's commitment to constant innovation and its drive to support entrepreneurial efforts. The award went to Roy Timms of Timbro Design Build from Welland, Ontario - a designer and builder of industrial, commercial, and food processing buildings. The category identifies successful entrepreneurs in an established enterprise that is at least five years old.

Performance Auto Group Provides Vehicles to Shuttle People to Christmas Dinner

On December 25, 2016, Performance Auto Group donated the use of three vehicles to shuttle people from homeless shelters to a complimentary Christmas dinner in downtown St. Catharines. The dinner, hosted by Gord's Place, was attended by over 500 people.

Performance coordinated transportation of all participants, with volunteers shuttling people all day from shelters across St. Catharines. The initiative enabled people to travel in comfort to the dinner, and helped spread Holiday joy to communities-in-need throughout the region.

Performance Auto Group Community Ambassador Bill Anderson said the group's commitment to serve the community is a core company value, and that its participation in the Gord's Place Christmas day dinner is a part of that commitment.

"Performance Auto Group is dedicated to supporting local communities wherever it operates, and is very proud to have partnered with Gord's Place to provide people-in-need with free transportation to and from the dinner. Performance Auto Group Partakes in Brampton's Tree Lighting Event & Santa Claus Parade


Performance Auto Group has participated in two separate holiday-themed public events in Brampton, and helped spread the season's joy at the city's special tree lighting event and Santa Claus Parade.


The tree lighting event was held on November 18, 2016, and saw over 15,000 people come together and pack the city's downtown core. Performance's team set up an event tent at the heart of the celebrations, and engaged people throughout the evening to collect much-needed food and monetary donations for families in need.


Performance's strong reputation in the community drew thousands of people towards the group's tent. The crowds even caused the Peel Regional Police and the Brampton Food Sharing Network to move their tables into Performance Auto Group's tent, and all three organizations then joined hands to spread holiday joy and collect donations for Toys for Tots and the Brampton Food Drive.


Performance Auto Group Marketing Strategist Maya Cieszynska said the event created excellent awareness about the group's community initiatives. "We all had a great time participating in Brampton's tree lighting event. Thousands of people showed up with hundreds of non-perishable food items and toys, and together we all collected much-needed donations for people in need. Our presence in this year's event will go a long way to further raise Performance's profile in the community," said Maya.


Meanwhile, Performance also participated in this year's Brampton Santa Claus Parade on November 19, 2016. The group showcased its special LED display truck at the event, and entertained hundreds of people with the company's unique, all-original holiday jingle.


The song featured animated penguins, and proved very popular with both adults and children at the event. People photographed the truck throughout its route, and even sang Performance's holiday tune as it drove by.

Performance Auto Group partakes in CIBC Run for the Cure, Raises $2,500


Performance Auto Group has participated in the CIBC Run for the Cure, and has helped raise nearly $2,500 for much-needed research into breast cancer.


The event was held on Sunday, October 2, 2016 at the Powerade Centre in Brampton, and saw over 1,500 people attend to raise funds for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. Numerous employees from Performance's GTA locations participated in the run, and donned white and pink shirts to show their support for the cancer foundation.


The team, named Performance Persisters, also set up Performance Auto Group's tent at the event and provided a brand new Honda HR-V as the run's official pace car. The HR-V was wrapped in CIBC Run for the Cure and Performance Auto Group decals, and attracted a lot of public attention throughout the event. This was the third year in a row that Performance provided a pace car for the run.


Performance Auto Group Employee Services Manager Edith Pencil said she was very proud of the team's efforts, and happy to have exceeded this year's fundraising goal. "I am very pleased to announce that Performance Persisters has surpassed this year's fundraising goal of $1,500, and has managed to raise nearly $2,500. This speaks volumes about the hard work put in by everyone to help raise funds for cancer research, and I am very thankful for that," said Edith.


She also said that Performance Auto Group is deeply committed to the community, and that its participation in the CIBC Run for the Cure is a part of that commitment. "Performance has been participating in the run for over 10 years, and has raised thousands of dollars to date to help fund vital cancer research. We have even provided pace vehicles to the run since 2014. All of this shows that the group cares deeply about the communities in which it operates, and is dedicated to making a positive difference in society," said Edith.


All of the funds raised at the CIBC Run for the Cure will directly help people affected by breast cancer. The money will be used to fund pioneering medical research, and will help improve screening technology, develop new treatments, and support studies into reducing the rate of recurrence.

Performance Auto Group has pushed pedal to the metal in the 2016 Heart & Stroke Foundation Big Bike Ride Niagara, and has raised over $2,200 to help fund vital medical research.


The ride was held on August 24, 2016 in St. Catharines, and saw employees don red shirts and cycle the thirty-seat, 2,000 lbs bike through 2 km of city streets to raise awareness about heart disease and stroke. The bike received fantastic response from everyone at the road, with people honking car horns and cheering the team throughout the route. The team had plenty of fun as well, and some even dressed up as Spiderman, Deadpool, deadmau5, and a giant rabbit to attract people's attention.


The rabbit costume was donned by Lindsay Slessor, Graphic Artist at Performance Auto Group, who wore the suit after meeting her personal donation goal of $300. "This is the second year in a row that I have cycled the big bike in my rabbit costume. My fundraising pitch was that I will sweat it out in the costume if I meet or exceed my goal. Thanks to several generous donors, 'Make The Rabbit Ride' was successful once again," said Lindsay.


The total amount raised this year includes $1,240 that was sourced through raffle ticket sales at the Performance Auto Group Golf Classic. The tournament was held on August 21 at the Peninsula Lakes Golf Club in Fenwick, Ontario, and saw participation from numerous employees from the Niagara region.

Performance Auto Group hosts Niagara's United Way Golf Tournament, Helps Raise over $50,000


Hundreds of people have attended Performance Auto Group's 23rd Annual United Way of St. Catharines and District Golf Tournament, and have helped raise $51,512 for the United Way of Niagara.


The event was held on Monday, August 15, 2016 at the Peninsula Lakes Golf Club in Fenwick, Ontario. Over 180 golfers participated in the tournament, and a total of 205 people attended a first-class dinner at the club to help raise funds for United Way's programs and initiatives.


The entire event was organised and managed by Performance Auto Group as presenting sponsor, and saw all Niagara dealerships put up vehicle displays throughout the golf course. Every hole had two or three vehicles on display, with sales consultants on hand to engage people with product presentations and interactive games.


Bill Anderson, Performance Auto Group Community Ambassador and Chairperson of the event, said the tournament has been organized by the group for decades and is a very important part of the company's commitment to the community. "Performance Auto Group has been the tournament's presenting sponsor for the past 23 years. This means that we have had sole ownership of the event's set up, organization, and promotion for over three decades. To date, we have raised over $800,000 for the United Way of Niagara via this tournament, and we are very proud of that", said Bill.


The United Way of St. Catharines and District Golf Tournament is considered one of the top fundraising events in the entire Niagara region. It raises funds for over 74 essential programs and special initiatives for local communities, and donates to nearly every medical research organization in the region, including those for cancer and heart disease. Brampton Auto Mall Celebrates Canada Day with 100,000 Revelers


Brampton Auto Mall has celebrated Canada Day in style with a day-long celebration in Brampton's Chinguacousy Park, and has given away hundreds of gift cards.


The event was held on Friday, July 1, 2016 from 7 am till midnight, and saw Performance Auto Group employees from Brampton Auto Mall hold numerous activities to engage and entertain people. The day's highlights included a big Brampton Auto Mall tent, games of Quick Buckets, and a massive 18 ft tall beaver that was featured in the Vancouver Winter Olympics.


The beaver garnered immense public attention at the event, with thousands of people flocking to see and picture it throughout the day. The team also engaged visitors in games of Quick Buckets, with adults getting $250 Brampton Auto Mall gift cards as prizes and children awarded glow bracelets. Over 400 gift cards and 240 bracelets were handed out in total.


Ashley Ward, Marketing Coordinator at Performance Auto Group, said the turnout at Chinguacousy Park was excellent and visitors to the Brampton Auto Mall booth loved the beaver and the Quick Buckets game. "The game was played all day and well into the evening, with hundreds of people taking home Brampton Auto Mall gift cards. The event was very successful at demonstrating Brampton Auto Mall's community initiatives," said Ashley.

Performance Auto Group Partakes in Big Bike Ride Brampton, Raises over $2,000


On Tuesday, June 14, 2016, a team of Performance Auto Group employees participated in the Heart & Stroke Foundation Big Bike Ride in Brampton and raised more than $2,000 to help fund vital medical research.


The team, named Performance Racers, rode on the big bike for more than twenty minutes and navigated through 3.5 km of city streets using only pedal power. The Racers enjoyed cycling the big bike, and joined hands with a team from the local Lowe's to power the thirty-seat, 2,000 lbs behemoth.


Team Captain Ashley Ward, Marketing Coordinator at Performance Auto Group, said she was very proud of her team and their effort to raise funds for such a noble cause. "We all had a great time riding the big bike, and created much-needed public awareness about heart disease and stroke. The reaction from everyone on the road towards the bike was fantastic, with people waving at us and honking car horns in our support," said Ward.


She said it is crucial to help raise funds for research into heart disease and stroke, as the conditions sadly prove fatal for over 70,000 Canadians annually. She said she plans to partake in Brampton's Big Bike Ride next year, and looks forward to organizing Performance's participation.

Performance Auto Group has raised $6,600 for Pathstone Mental Health through its Drive Your Dreams weekend giveaway, providing much-needed funds to develop and support mental health services for children and youth in Niagara.


The funds were raised during Pathstone's Hope Award presentation ceremony at the Fallsview Casino in Niagara Falls on Friday, June 10, 2016, and saw people bidding to win a dream Niagara getaway package in a top-of-the-line luxury performance car. The package also included an overnight stay in an upscale hotel, dinner at fancy restaurants, and tickets to popular activities such as the Shaw Festival.


Performance Auto Group Community Ambassador Bill Anderson said the group has always been committed to serving the community, and its participation in the Hope Award ceremony is part of that commitment. "It is imperative to purge all stigmas associated with mental health, so that people can talk about mental disorders as comfortably as their physical health. Organizations like Pathstone are working towards erasing negativity around mental health and are making it easy for people to seek help, which is why we are proud to support their fundraising initiatives," said Bill.


The Hope Award ceremony is held every year to honour and recognize exceptional contributions made by individuals to improve the lives of children and families living with mental health challenges. This year, the award was presented to Dr. Hilda Makken, a pediatrician from Fort Erie, for demonstrating outstanding commitment to helping youth overcome mental challenges.


The ceremony was headlined by keynote speaker Margaret Trudeau, mother of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Ms. Trudeau shared her story of living with Bipolar Disorder, and stressed the need for everyone living with mental challenges to seek help without fear.

Performance Auto Group Donates $6,000 to Kristen French CACN

Performance Auto Group has made a $6,000 donation to the Kristen French Child Advocacy Centre Niagara (CACN) as part of the company's commitment to give back to local communities.


The donation will help end Kristen French CACN's mortgage by 2018, and will assist the charitable organization to help and support children and families suffering due to child abuse in the Niagara region.

Kristen French CACN was the first stand-alone child advocacy centre to open in Canada in 2008. Since then, it has provided all of Niagara's 12 municipalities with child-focused and trauma-informed leading practice approach for the investigation and treatment of child abuse.

Performance Auto Group helps Bolton Rotary Implement AED & CPR Training

Performance Auto Group's sponsorship and support of The Rotary Club of Bolton and Rotary Ribfest has enabled St. Michael's Catholic Secondary School and the ACT Foundation of Canada to train 750 grade nine students in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the use of an Automated External Defibrillator.


Over 10 years, 7,500 students will be trained beginning in the second term of the school year in 2016. Performance Auto Group's support will allow for every student to be trained.


St. Michael's Catholic Secondary School is the third and final school in Caledon to implement this training, and by doing so, they are encouraging youth in their school community to adopt healthy lifestyle habits.

On Wednesday, October 14, 2015, a team of Performance Auto Group employees participated in the St.Catharines Big Bike Ride and raised $8,310.25 for the Heart & Stroke Foundation.


The team cycled the 30-seat, 2,000 lbs bike for twenty minutes using only pedal power, and helped raise awareness and funds for research on a disease that sadly contributes to over 70,000 Canadians dying each year.


The total amount raised included $1,000 raised through the annual Performance Auto Group Golf Classic in August 2015. Lindsay Slessor, Graphic Designer at Performance Auto Group, participated in the ride and vowed that if she reached her personal goal of raising $250, she would wear a rabbit costume while she rode the big bike. Lindsay surpassed her goal by raising $330, and the rabbit was front and centre on the bike.


"The ride was for a great cause, as nearly everyone knows someone who has been affected by heart disease and stroke," said Lindsay, adding, "It was fun to participate in such an important charitable cause with my coworkers. Everyone had a great time, and I'm looking forward to partaking next year."

Performance Auto Group Partners with Habitat for Humanity Niagara to Help Build House

Performance Auto Group has partnered with Habitat for Humanity Niagara and has helped construct a home for families-in-need in Port Colbourne, Ontario.

The event was held on Monday, February 8, 2015, and saw employees put on construction boots and work alongside volunteers to help build the home. The team helped lay down the subfloor and the laminated wood flooring, and also sanded the wood trim and painted the floor. They also donated $565 raised through a special employee barbecue.

Bill Anderson, Community Ambassador for Performance Auto Group, said that Habitat for Humanity gives true meaning to giving and caring. "No matter who you are or where you are from, everyone can contribute," said Bill, adding, "Performance Auto Group and its employees are extremely proud to have partnered with Habitat for Humanity, and very happy to have contributed to such an important cause."
